Meet the pilot: Vitalera

Today we explore the groundbreaking work of Vitalera!

In partnership with Maastricht University Medical Center+, the pilot is implementing their FollowHealth digital platform to modernise remote patient monitoring and post-operative care. By giving clinicians continuous access to vital metrics while offering patients an intuitive, home-based recovery tool, the solution reduces readmission rates and eases hospital capacity pressures. This initiative highlights the transformative power of patient-centred digital care pathways in real-world clinical environments.

Take a look at their interview below to learn about their key takeaways from the project and their next steps.

What are your expectations as your solution moves into the assessment phase? And your lessons learned?
Moving into assessment is the moment we’ve been building toward—it’s where real-world clinical use meets evidence. Our expectation isn’t just to confirm that the technology works, but to understand how it changes the day-to-day for care teams and patients: where it saves time, where it builds trust, and where we still have to earn it. The biggest lesson so far is that adoption is a clinical and human challenge before it’s a technical one. The best product in the world only creates value if it fits naturally into an existing workflow, and that means listening closely to the people using it every day and being willing to adapt fast.

How has InnoMatch helped you achieve your business goals? What have you valued the most so far?
InnoMatch gave us something that’s genuinely hard to access as a scaleup: a structured, trusted pathway into a leading European hospital, with a shared framework for evaluating impact. What we’ve valued most is the partnership itself—working side by side with a clinical team that’s invested in making the pilot succeed, not just observing from a distance. That collaborative environment lets us validate our solution in a real care setting and turn early signals into the kind of evidence that opens doors across European healthcare.

What does success look like for you beyond this pilot and the InnoMatch programme?
Beyond this program, success means turning a promising collaboration into lasting clinical impact—a solution embedded in real care pathways, measurably improving outcomes and easing the load on healthcare teams. Longer term, we want this to be a blueprint: proof that a European health-tech company and a hospital can co-create technology that scales across borders. If what we build together here helps patients in other regions and health systems, that’s the success that matters most to us.
