Meet the 4 buyers selected from the Open Call for Public and Private Buyers

We’re excited to announce the winners from the Open Call for Public and Private Buyers! Our goal is to support committed buyers with their organisational innovation challenges by helping them identify and refine their unmet needs, and then matching them with an EIC Awardee who has an innovative solution.

A Look Back at the Call
Our call ran from 7 February to 6 June 2025, and our team worked very hard to promote this initiative and attract potential applicants. We are very proud of the interest our call has sparked and are thankful to all the applicants for seeing the potential in InnoMatch.

And the Winners Are…

Our panel of 3 external experts reviewed the  applications with close attention. After their review, 4 buyers and their challenges were selected. We received a total of 35 applications (10 from public buyers and 25 from private buyers) based in 16 different countries.

Meet the buyers and their challenges:

  • The Deep Group UG – Agriculture, Food & Beverages: Real-Time Nitrate Uptake Monitoring as Ground Truth for Soil Carbon Modeling and Validation of Farming Practices for Carbon Farming.
  • The City of Ghent – Digital Transformation and AI: AI for writing public procurement specifications.
  • EH Group Engineering – Energy, Environment, Sustainability: Low-Pt Catalyst Coated Membranes (CCMs) for Cost-Effective, High-Performance Fuel Cells.
  • Medtronic Iberica – Health and Life Sciences: AI-powered data extraction from medical devices for enhanced remote patient monitoring integration.

The next steps
Before entering the InnoMatch Programme, the selected buyers will first refine their challenges with the support of InnoMatch mentors. They will then develop advanced “challenge statements” which will be published in a future open call dedicated to finding an EIC Awardee that has a innovative solution that can address the challenge.

The InnoMatch programme
After a suitable EIC Awardee is matched with a buyer’s challenge, both will embark on the InnoMatch programme, which incorporates a three-stage process:

– Prepare phase: Create a detailed Pilot Action Plan with objectives, KPIs, and milestones.
-Deploy phase: Implement the pilot with regular progress checks and expert guidance.
-Assess phase:  Evaluate the pilot’s impact, scalability, and potential for broader adoption.
